What I really appreciate about his comedy is how he blends humor with serious political stuff, like raising awareness about the genocide in Palestine. He makes you laugh but also think about what’s really going on.
That moment when Bassem Youssef wore the oversized hat on Al Bernameg to mock the president was unforgettable. It perfectly captured his fearless approach to satire. The fact that he had to face court for such a comedic act only highlighted the power of humor in challenging authority and the risks he took to push boundaries.
One of the funniest moments was when Bassem showed up on Al-Bernameg wearing a ridiculously oversized version of the hat worn by then-President Morsi. It was his way of poking fun at the cult-like glorification of leaders, and it had the audience crying with laughter. It was clever, bold, and perfectly captured his fearless approach to call out politics in a fun way.
One of Bassem’s most memorable moments was when he brilliantly called out Western media for its biased reporting on Palestine. He compared how similar events were framed differently depending on who was involved, using humor to expose the hypocrisy. It wasn’t just funny—it was sharp, eye-opening, and delivered the kind of truth that stays with you long after the laughter fades.
‘Satire is the weapon of the powerless. It’s how we survive in a world that’s too absurd to be taken seriously.’ This quote from one of my favorite show, El bernameg perfectly captures how humor can challenge authority and highlight injustice, proving that laughter is sometimes the strongest form of resistance.
I think the best thing about Bassem’s comedy is that it reasonates with current affairs / geo-politics. I think his exchange with Ben Shapiro really stands out and Piers Morgan who gives as good as he gets
When he showed up in the to show lionesses
His interview on Piers Morgan show and his joke about his wife using her kids as human shield 😂

Bassem vs Piers Morgan interview.
I love his sense of humour as you can sense he’s very intelligent. His lines are very funny yet make you think 🤔 Bassem’s charisma is unmatched and I’d love to see him perform live
As a Syrian, my favourite Bassem Youssef moment was when he made fun of a Syrian government TV propagandist who claimed he had a flash memory stick on which he stored indecent videos of opposition figures. Both the form and content of Bassem’s mockery of that man were powerful and impactful.
Cute. Redefining the word to convey our sheer frustration and deep rage allowed millions some catharsis.
Basem is a prominent figure in the pro Palestine movement in the West as he has the ability to explain the sad reality of the genocide against Palestinians in a bitterly funny way. He also sheds light on aspects of the atrocities that are usually overlooked.
Well no one can deny that the best sarcastic moment fir Bassem when he said “عبط احنا بقى”
A standout moment for me was from Bassem Youssef’s show Al-Bernameg was when he hilariously mocked the over-the-top patriotic rhetoric of Egyptian politicians and media figures. In this famous segment, he waved an Egyptian flag and joked, “We don’t need solutions, we have nationalism! We don’t need jobs, we have nationalism! Who needs food when we have nationalism? Let’s just eat the flag!” His witty delivery and sharp critique of political propaganda made this moment one of his most unforgettable highlights in my opinion.
The best political satirist who has the courage and personality to challenge anyone with intelligence and humor.
Favourite moments are his sketches in elbernameg (el3ab ya khalifa) and lots of other iconic jokes that are now staples of the Egyptian pop culture. However more recently was the moment in the first Piers morgan interview when he just started swearing in arabic and looked like the show’s team behind camera started to panic but only after a delay because they had no idea what he’d said at first. Absolutely iconic!
Satire vs pain what a combination
