I’m not usually one to click on “suggested” viral videos, but when Ismo’s legendary Conan appearance popped up years ago, I couldn’t help but finish (no pun intended) it. Doing the entire set on one subject from all kinds of angles reminded me of Gary Gulman’s style, and the dissection of language of George Carlin of course.
My favorite part of the “ass” chunk is definitely when Ismo points out how “bad-ass” takes a positive turn thanks to the ass-suffix, but “dumb-ass” stays dumb.
It’s really hard to pick a favorite moment since they’re all so funny and great, but one of my favorites is when he’s comparing American and Finnish drinking habits, saying Americans worry if they can drive the night they’re drinking, whereas I Finland they worry if they can drive the next day! That bit is sooo funny, and being Norwegian with American friends, I can relate to that 😅
The story he told about how he tried to fit in after he moved to America killed me. But he has waaaaay to many stories to acctualy pick one. But that on was great.
I never saw ISMO live, but I binged the bits and pieces that I found on YouTube. What got me sucked in was the way of thinking about language, how he articulates awkward moments, pretty similar to some of my awkward moments.
I love his and her‘s. He brings it to the point. As always.
I like everything. But if i had to choose one, it’s his bit about the word „ass“.
I first discovered Ismo on YouTube. I showed it to my bf. Then we went to Berlin to see the Fluffy…..and there comes Ismo…..soooo coooollllllll 🙂 what a surprise that was.
One of my favourite jokes is the funny “word” when topped stop pouring something…..ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta …hahahahahah
I am using it as well now.
Love the “what’s up” joke on the Conan appearance, maybe because I’m slightly socially awkward and tend to over-analyze situations like those.
I love Ismo‘s ability to play with words of the English language. His „ass“ bit is hilarious.
