i loved when you said “you should be afraid of taking risks and pursue something meaningful, but you should be more afraid of staying where you are, if its making you miserable”. there are a lot of things that you said that i would love to comment, but as a 18 years old, this drives me the most
One of Jordan’s most significant quotes to me is, ‘The truth shall set you free.’ It’s not just him saying it, but many other influential and trustworthy people I admire who have walked this earth. It’s simple yet powerful. It resonates with all his lectures and teachings. Being true to ourselves and to others is key. If we are honest with ourselves, we’ll recognize the areas in our lives where we can improve.
My father was an oil painter who created works based on the story of Pinocchio, because he loved the tale of a puppet turning into a real boy simply by telling the truth. If I win, I’ll try to give away the book of Pinocchio my father created, along with all his artwork.
Why bother growing up? well, as JP says, otherwise you’re preventing the world to have the best version of yourself and express your highest potential in this life.
You see, the story of Peterpan is the story of this burden of maturity. Wendy and Tinkerbell represent the lack and burden of real connections while Capitan hook is the personification of the predatory nature of time passing by with his fear of the crocodile. Peter avoids all of this by remaining an indefinite “pan”, but not choosing is a form of suicide in the killing of what your future self could be and this is not only to be seen as a catastrophe individually but for the society in larger sense.
Some food for thought in modern times
(…) And I have some sense of how fast time goes, you know… I’ve always had a very acute sense of the finititude of existence, and this is a good hint people who have children, but with regards to your family members at all is: “DON’T TAKE IT FOR GRANTED”, Every second you get that isn’t painful you should cherish.
