As a Catalan my first time in contact with Finnish culture was actually through Ismo, and it wasn’t in English, but it Finnish!

Living as a Dutchman in Spain for 5 years and being married to a Spanish wife, I have the same as Ismo in Spanish. The Spanish language amd culture is so different from the Dutch. Therefore it’s difficult for me to select just 1 great moment, but the one I viewed most is regarding the word SHIT, no shit man, that’s great shit.
Love his comedy in general as he so perfectly captures the awkward moments of adjusting to living in another country, or engaging with other humans in general. One of my favourites though is when he talks about the time he just couldn’t get his hands on a burger at the drive through for lack of a car.

Ismo is the best comedian everr! One of the best ones until nownis when he flew from América to New Zealand and lost a day. His “eh??” Makes me laugh even if i saw seen the video 1000 times!

Has to be the ’evil red dot’. You’re in a pitch black dark room trying to catch some sleep. And there is a TV. With that little stand-by red light. No other purpose than keep you awake, or cause nightmares. A few years back I was on a trip around Europe with a Harley-Davidson. We had made a long day of driving, and ended up checking-in to a Kon-Tiki-style resort in St. Tropez after sunset. We were fast asleep in this beautiful hut, when I woke up in the middle of the night, to my complete movie-style sitting-up-scream, as I had seen the small red dot of light on the TV bolted to the wall, otherwise it was darkness -and I thought we are currently driving in a tunnel and that the red stand-by light is actually breaklights of vehicles in front of us and I had fallen asleep.
That red dot sure is evil, I tell ya.
I have always found Ismo hilarious. My alias as a kid used to be Sisu, only to discover from Ismo that it means “perseverance”in Finnish 🙂

This is an old one but the moment you said “we are a family, me, my wife and the dog” and then someone asked “No kids?” replying “I think I would had mentioned between my wife and the dog” Hilarious
I laughed my ass off with “a country has an army, and the bank has four cashiers and a cleaning lady” )))
I really like the jokes about the English pronunciation like the one “ understanding how money works “” I can have a moment scrolling and having a good laugh on is insta account… it’s just the jokes are so good. I’m not Finnish but I lived in the States and being a foreigner I can relate on the jokes so well .

My favourite ISMOMENT is him explaining silent letters. Debt… Det.
I really like him because of how shy and awkward he is. I absolutely love his little comments, like: “I thought that’s what a sheet was, but it turned out to be more complicated than I thought.” Or the time when he was on a long flight and genuinely thought he had lost an entire day because he departed on the 11th and landed on the 13th! It’s just so adorable.
Housecleaning before a friends visit
The joke about the friend who wants to be vegan but she’s not. She talks a lot about it and only eats happy animals. It is simply brilliant. It cracks me up every time!
Ismo we love you
My fav Ismo videos are the early ones from like mid 2000s where he talks about the word “shit ” and “ass” and the many different uses that they can be used for. I am an English teach and I often used Ismo in my lessons to teach and to have humour at the end of a class. My student always laughed a lot and just like Ismo, my student would find the English language funny, and as a foreigner myself who has had to learn a few languages, I can relate to Ismo about the comedy in languages that native speakers don’t realise until, someone like Ismo makes humour out of our languages.
“Hi, I’m vegan.” 😄
Meanwhile nobody ever says:
“Hi, I’m ISMO. I eat sausage.” 🌭😂
