Margaret Cho – “Fresh Off The Bloat”
Margaret Cho has a lot to celebrate for now, not only has she been nominated for Emmy and Grammy five times, but she was also recently featured by Rolling Stone Magazine as one of the top 50 stand-up comedians of all time!
Now she is also ready for a whole new stand-up show this autumn, and it’s rumored to be over the top but also the best so far. She is like a pioneer to reckon within the stand-up, but she has never taken the success for granted and continues to push limits. She has always had a sharp tongue with her themes and what she so nice calls the politics’ obscenity and contingency politics.
Throughout the years, Cho has been involved with both movies, television, books, music and theater and has not only managed to keep her signature throughout, but also brought the best of these experiences to fine-tune her stand-up and held her in the tune through all these years.
My grandmother said, “You look bloated as if you’ve been found dead in a lake after several days of searching.” Koreans are the most savage of all the Asians. My new show is all about being fresh off drugs and drinking and suicide and coming back to life – finally fished out of the river Styx. It’s meta. It’s magical. It’s me.” – Margaret Cho
