As an somewhat older gamer I could really relate to Dara’s frustation with video game controls, such as the fantastic rant about his experiences with the old Playstation game Metal Gear Solid. Think I first saw in on Live from Apollo on TV but had the chance to see the routine live in London a few years laters. Absolutely had me in tears, both from laughter and recognizing my on pain, having experienced pretty much the same thing as Dara. Me and my wife still quote his “Snaaake! SNAAAKE! SNAAAAAKE!”-cries to each other every now and then. He’s such a treasure.
I saw Dara about 10 years ago in Gothenburg and just remember that my cheeks hurt so badly from laughing. Its a treat to see this blokes take on life live.
I will never forget when he talked about the panties that got folded into a swan and how he clumsily tried to make that experience less awkward. Or when he went to try surfing and had another irishman laugh at him.
Or the infamous “racism is way better than astrology!”
Or when he talked about how women should act excited over long gloves the same way men act excited over long socks/stockings.
There are so many moments to chose from ❤❤
If there is one moment it has to be Dara’s standup where he is talking about surfing. He is explaining is experience of surfing which such detail, in a way you would not think possible, and how shite it was. The board was tied to his ankle and when he fell off in the waves, fumbling around in the water the board kept hitting him. The story progressed in a way which gave me such clear pictures of what was happening to him. He is after all such a fantastic storyteller! I laughed crying and sweating to an extent I did not was possible from just standup.
I’ve seen him live 3 times now and he is my absolute favourite stand up comedian. He is so smart and quick witted and always has so much fun with the audience.
I think my favourite is probably the marketing to men with the fusion power stealth razor
I found Dara as the host of Mock the Week on BBC while in London, and since then he has been one of my favourite comedians from the UK. Dara always make me smile and gives me a cheer up whenever I watch him.
Love Dara’s witt, would love to see him live! One of my favorite is the skit about how tech progress is porn driven! Come on its the best ^^
For me, one of the funniest things ever is part of his “This is the Show” show, when he talks about NCT classes and his interplay with his wife who is a doctor, and his audience work while talking about a tear or a cut.
I laughed for days (DAYS!) after seeing Dara’s bit about clunky game controls, and how hard it is to find a button on the controller that isn’t crouch (I’m giggling typing this!).
”He was one of the best agents we ever …”
“He was not! Mick, we’ve looked back over the mission logs. His behavior in the field was erratic at best.”
The amazing gymnastics by Dara made it even funnier.
”Science doesnt know everything, otherwise it would stop” And everything around that bit
and with correct email
When I say something in about a minute’s time, every woman in this room is going to make a noise.
“look at me elbows!” 😂😂😂😂😂
